Goa’s Mangesh Kuttikar has been selected for the India archery team by Paralympic Archery Federation of India (PAFI) for the World Paralympic Archery Games to be held at Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore from November 21 to December 3.
Kuttikar was selected based on his excellent performance at First National Paralympic Archery Championship and selection trials.
According to Vilas Dawane, President, PAFI, Kuttikar will compete in sitting balance in compound bow division.
Kuttikar, an MPT employee, today moved to SAI Training Hostel at Ponda for training purpose. Since he did not have a bow and an arrow, he applied for a loan with the MPT Society and with his brother and sister also helping him, he managed to purchase the equipment costing Rs 1.50 lakh.
“I need to practice vigorously so that I win a medal for India,” Kuttikar told Herald from Ponda tonight.
